At FUMC Elkins we strive to offer a variety of ministry opportunities for people to get involved in. Here is a list with a brief description of some of them. For more information about any of these opportunities, please contact the church office at 304-636-0660.

WE CARE: Our We Care ministry is an outreach for our senior citizen community. We serve many of our older generation within our community by providing meals, cards, visits, and much more. We are always looking for more to join our team.

Backpack Program: Our backpack program was developed to answer the call of those in need. There are many children in Randolph County going home on the weekends without enough food to eat. Our church, in hope of gaining other partners and sponsors, provides over 170 backpacks every weekend filled with food items for children to eat. We accept food, school supply and monetary donations for the Backpack Program. You may drop your items off on Sundays in the bin marked "Backpack Program" by the church office. We are collecting new backpacks and food items to include: granola bars, individual packets of oatmeal, canned ravioli, fruit cups, veggie cups, snack cracker packs and pudding cups.

Mission Team: The Mission Team collecting the following items for the Lighthouse Community Recovery Home: backpacks, toothpaste and toothbrush, Old Spice deodorant (solid), black combs, bar deodorant soap, disposable razors (a couple for each backpack), boxer briefs size XL, white short socks size XL, white t-shirts size XL and black shower shoes (Walmart – size 10-10 1/2 ) cost is $9.99.

Pioneer Club: Pioneer Club children are learning virtually. Each week the children learn how to be living like Jesus. We are unable to feed the children physically each week, but we are supplying biblical lessons through videos, written lessons and bible study. The Pioneer Club program created 24 weeks of videos on “Living Like Jesus” we will share weekly. The videos coordinate with lesson from the Adventure material. God always supplies our needs and we are so thankful our church members donated to the purchase of Bibles for each Pioneer child at Christmas. We know Jesus is the great comforter and know the children are very blessed to have their bibles with them. They know Jesus loves them; he comforts them and is with them. Pioneer Club Ministries is open to all children in the community in kindergarten through 6th grade.

Sunday School Program: At FUMC Elkins, Sunday school is for children and adults. There are several classes to choose from that cover many topics.

Chancel Choir: This is a mixed choir, and they are part of a long tradition of musical offerings in the worship services at FUMC in Elkins. This is a committed volunteer group of folks who meet to rehearse anthems and service music. Within this choir are many subgroups: quartets, trios, men's and mixed quartets, and we have a blessed abundance of folks who step out to sing solos, and solos within the choral realm. These singers are Christ's ambassadors in our community as well, participating in musical venues throughout the region. Our singing door is open to anyone who has a heart for music and worship.

Praize Team: This is a group of volunteer singers and instrumentalists that share a love of our Lord and a passion for contemporary Christian music. As a team, we provide music year round, though participation is only asked for once or twice a month, depending on how many members we have. We are a welcoming group of people. New members, youth and adults, are encouraged to join us.

ConwayRingers: This is the handbell choir at FUMC Elkins. They began ringing in the early 2000s because of a generous gift of four octaves of Malmark handbells by Jo Conway, in memory of her husband, Lew, who was a member of the Chancel Choir for decades. Traditionally, ConwayRingers participates in all of the services from Thanksgiving/Advent through Christmas Eve, and at least monthly in worship service.

Children's Choir: This is a group of children, first through fifth grade, who gather for rehearsals and participation in worship once or twice a year.

Conway Quilters: If you can tie a knot and enjoy good fellowship, this is the group for you. If you have always wanted to learn to quilt, now is the time! Several ladies are making hats for infants to teens, others are making layettes with knitted booties and afghans. If you have yarn laying around, this is the perfect way to put it to good use! We Care prayer shawls are given to our members in need, in nursing homes, etc. Men's prayer shawls are especially needed.

Scouts BSA Troop 88 and Pack 88: Scouting teaches outdoor skills and leadership qualities to individuals in kindergarten through 12th grade.

Bible Study: An in-depth look into the Bible. Meets every Wednesday at 10 a.m.

There is much more that we offer and as we move forward we will be adding these ministry options to our list. Come and join in the service!
